Description

Job: Registered Nurse – Wound Care

Location: Newark
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift | 5x7.5 Hours (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
Start Date: 06/15/2026

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized wound care management for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Assess, stage, and manage pressure injuries, neuropathic ulcers, venous ulcers, and arterial ulcers.
  • Perform wound treatments including VAC therapy, debridement techniques, dressing changes, wound cultures, and pressure injury prevention interventions.
  • Provide colostomy and ileostomy care, ostomy equipment selection, and continence skin care management.
  • Monitor and document wound progression, staging, and treatment plans accurately in EPIC.
  • Participate in wound rounds, prevalence studies, and interdisciplinary care planning.
  • Collaborate with ICU nurses, educators, and leadership teams to improve pressure injury prevention outcomes.
  • Maintain Excel-based wound tracking reports and collect detailed quality improvement data.
  • Educate patients and families regarding wound care, ostomy management, infection prevention, and skin integrity maintenance.
  • Follow infection control protocols, isolation precautions, and hospital safety standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Active NJ RN License or Compact RN License required.
  • Minimum 1 year of Wound Care RN experience required.
  • Required certifications: BLS and CWCN or WOCN certification.
  • Strong experience with wound dressings, debridement agents, VAC therapy, and ulcer management.
  • Knowledge of Braden Scale assessments and pressure injury prevention strategies.
  • Experience with colostomy/ileostomy care and continence management.
  • Proficiency in EPIC charting system required.
  • Acute care/critical care experience preferred, including ICU and transplant patient care.
  • Ability to manage documentation, admissions/discharges, and flexible end-of-shift responsibilities.
  • Must be comfortable working every other weekend as needed.
