Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (Travel)

Position Overview

• Travel RN position in the Emergency Department (ED)
• Urgent backfill with 1 opening
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Rotating weekends/As needed
• No call requirements
• Float as needed

Unit Information

• 31 beds plus 2 triage rooms (7 beds designated for Behavioral Health or Acute patients)
• Patient ratio typically 1:4; exceptions during high volume or discharge holds
• Patient population includes all ages
• Electronic Health Records primarily MedHost (ED) and Meditech (for admit holds and behavioral health patients)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Certifications required prior to start:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
  • NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
• Must consent to random drug screening and complete a criminal questionnaire/consent form

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive Emergency Room experience
• Professional, positive, compassionate, and team-oriented personality

Additional Information

• Orientation offered bi-weekly on Tuesdays
• Dress code: Scrubs of traveler’s choice
• Facility is a 250-bed academic community hospital with comprehensive surgical services, 24-hour ED, cardiac rehab, oncology, and more
• Located in a small town with city amenities, known as “The River District” with parks, trails, and cultural attractions nearby
