Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Cardiothoracic Operating Room Registered Nurse (CTOR RN) to join a fast-paced surgical services team. The RN will primarily support Cardiothoracic surgeries while also providing coverage across multiple surgical specialties based on department needs and surgical volume. The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in high-acuity operative environments.
Shift Details
- Schedule: 4 x 10-hour shifts
- Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- On-Call Requirement:
- 3–4 call shifts per week
- Weekday call extends from end of scheduled shift until next scheduled shift
- Weekend call rotation up to every other weekend
- Weekend call begins Friday evening after shift and ends Monday at 6:00 AM
Unit/Specialty Overview
Primary focus is Cardiothoracic Surgery with additional coverage responsibilities for General Surgery service lines depending on CT surgery volume.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care in a high-acuity Operating Room setting
- Scrub and/or circulate complex Cardiothoracic procedures
- Prepare and maintain sterile surgical environments and instrumentation
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary teams
- Monitor patient safety, aseptic technique, and adherence to OR protocols
- Anticipate surgical team needs during procedures
- Assist with emergency and trauma surgical cases as required
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond within facility-defined response times
- Ensure accurate documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room experience required
- Strong Cardiothoracic OR experience preferred
- Experience with multiple surgical specialties highly preferred
- BLS certification required
- ACLS preferred
- Ability to take independent call and function in emergent surgical situations
