Travel RN First Assistant (RNFA) – Robotics | Thoracic | 4x10 Days

If you’re an experienced RNFA looking for a high-level surgical role with complex specialty cases, this is a standout opportunity in a major teaching hospital.

This is ideal for experienced First Assist clinicians who thrive in advanced OR environments and want strong case variety.

 

Job Overview

  • Specialty: RN First Assistant (RNFA)
  • Schedule: 4x10 Day Shift
  • Shift: 6:45 AM – 5:15 PM
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: 30–60 days out (credentialing timeline)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Setting: Operating Room / Adult Surgical Services

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Function as an RN First Assistant directly supporting surgeons in complex OR procedures
  • First assist in specialty surgical cases including:
    • Robotics
    • Thoracic surgery
    • Urology
    • General OR support
  • Perform advanced intraoperative functions including:
    • Tissue handling
    • Suturing
    • Hemostasis
    • Exposure assistance
    • Surgical wound support
  • Collaborate closely with surgical teams in a fast-paced OR setting

What They’re Looking For

  • Active WV RN license or compact (pending accepted)
  • BSN, MSN, or DNP REQUIRED
  • BLS required
  • CNOR REQUIRED
  • CRNFA REQUIRED (or active certification process)
  • Completion of accredited AORN RNFA program
  • Minimum 2+ years RN experience
  • Robotics, thoracic, and urology experience REQUIRED
  • Travel experience preferred
  • NO first-time travelers

Schedule & Expectations

  • 4x10 day shifts
  • Rotating weekday + weekend call required
  • No guaranteed block scheduling
  • No locals within radius restrictions
Additional Information ~800+ bed major teaching hospital Adult OR / 30-room surgical environment EMR: Cerner Free parking VERY important: credentialing can take 30–60 days, so this is NOT a quick-start role Flu vaccine required during flu season Strong documentation package required at submission Ideal candidates are polished, highly specialized, and responsive Fast interview process once compliance package is complete
