2+ years of NICU experience required.

• Level of NICU: 2
• Number of beds: 20
• Ratios: 1:1–3 depending on acuity and staffing
• Required Certifications: NRP, BLS
• Common diagnoses/types of patients: Extremely premature/premature patients, BPD, HIE, feeding intolerance, respiratory support, sepsis/meningitis, NOWS/ESC, hyperbilirubinemia
• Required skills: Ability to care for gestations down to 32 weeks or greater than 1500 grams, NC, HFNC, CPAP, NAVA, conventional vent equipment, use of feeding pumps
• Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes
• Common titratable/set-rate drips: BP drugs, TPN/D10, Insulin
• Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Both
• Nurse aides on unit: No
• Neonatologist in-house 24/7?: Neonatologist – No, ARNP/PA – Yes
• RT Equipment: HFOV, HFJV, Conventional vent, CPAP, HFNC, NC
• Telemetry: Yes, nurses read strips
• Shifts & Scheduling: 3x12s per week – 4-week schedules
• Weekend Requirement: Can be every weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Possible, depending on scheduling needs
• Call/Standby Requirement: If not needed, staff may be placed on standby
• Floating Requirements: Can float to peds to care for NICU grads, patients up to 12 months of age, or be a 1:1 sitter for behavioral health patients postpartum to help with well-baby care
• Scrub Color/Dress Code: Royal Blue
• Orientation: 1–2 shifts only, fast-paced orientation with little room for adjustment
