Description
GLC Government Services is seeking an IV pharmacist to work on a government contract at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.
Schedule/Hours: Must be flexible to work a schedule that includes shifts on days, evenings, occasional overnights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Hours may range from 6am-2:30pm, 6:30am-3pm, 7am-3:30pm, 7:30am-4pm, 8am-4:30pm, 8:30am-5pm, 9am-5:30pm, 10:00am – 6:30pm, 11:00am-7:30pm, 1:00pm-9:30pm, 3:00pm-11:30pm, 10:00pm-6:30am, 11:00p-7:30am, etc. or any shift deemed necessary by the client.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Clear and active Pharmacist license in any state, U.S. territory or commonwealth of the District of Columbia
- Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE (American Council of Pharmaceutical Education)-accredited school of Pharmacy or a graduate from an ACPE-accredited pharmacy program is preferred
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association
- A minimum of 1 year of recent experience as a pharmacist in an inpatient hospital pharmacy environment with experience in pharmacy sterile compounding and intravenous admixture unit (IVAU) is required.
- Completion of a graduate internship program (i.e., PGY1 or PGY2) is preferred
- Must be flexible, able, and willing to float between the unit dose and IV departments at the client’s discretion.
- Must be able to work as a team as well as independently
- Requiring a pharmacist with inpatient hospital and/or infusion experience, along with unit dose experience.
JOB DUTIES:
- Sterile processing, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition are required
- Compounding of prescriptions, the formulation, preparation, bulk compounding, selection, dispensing, and preservation of drugs, medicines, and chemicals
- Research and investigation in developing special vehicles or variations of standard formulas to meet the needs of individual patients, and in developing original techniques of compounding and making available for use new investigational drugs
- Advising on drug therapy and usage
- Performing administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work concerning the administration of pharmacy services for the hospital.
