Department: NICU | RN
- Unit: Womens Services Nampa Hospital Flr 3 - NICU
- Level of NICU: Level II
- # of Beds: 8- we have private NICU suites all 8 beds are on their own.
- Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:03
- Required Certifications: STABLE, NRP, BLS
- Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Level II – 32 weeks and greater. Mostly respiratory distress, a lot feeders and growers, hypoglycemia, some NAS scoring-opioid withdrawal.
- Experience or 'Must have' skills: Must have 3 years of NICU experience, okay with first time travelers. Prefer a background in mother baby may have NICU nurse care for NICU baby and mom, and another baby. Must have experience and be able to attend deliveries- must be able to stabilize newborn, "eyes & thighs" and 2hr assessment. Must have experience attending c-sections as delivery nurse- NICU RNs attend ALL c-sections- scheduled, urgent, and emergent.

- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: no
- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift: Charge nurse over whole department- LDRP and NICU. Resource Nurse to stabilize NICU admissions, attend c-sections, attend high risk deliveries- meconium or shoulder dystocia. May have 1 baby.
- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? CNAs do LDRP and NICU.
- Neonatologist in house 24/7: Neonatal NP 24/7.
- RT Equipment: NICU CPAP only. Transfer out Vents to level III NICU.
- Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit: Continuous monitoring- centralized monitoring system.
- Shifts & Scheduling: 7-7. Resource and Charge 0645-1845, 1845-0645. First schedule travelers will fill in the holes, the next schedule travelers can give preference and they will try to work with them but they will fit them in to the schedule around core staff. Do NOT guarantee Block Scheduling- can not work 6 shifts in a row.
- Weekend Requirement: No minimum requirement. Based on unit needs and requests.
- Holiday Requirement: No set requirement for travel RNs. Regular Staff have a set holiday rotation and there are 3 groups. May work a holiday if there is a need during contract.
- Is there Call or a Standby requirement: No Call Required.
- Floating Requirements: Float to all St. Lukes Treasure Valley Sites-Meridian, Nampa, Boise in the NICU or as a sitter.
- Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided: Hospital issued scrubs-required to be changed in to and out of at beginning and end of shift.
- How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation: 3 days in the unit. Compliance and EPIC Curio assignments must be completed before start.
- Additional Notes: Travelers extend and come back. Have a no fingernail lacquer policy- do not allow acrylic or gel nails in the dept due to unique model- NICU embedded within 7 of LDRP rooms. Travel duos will need 2 cars, can not do 1 car as they could be at different sites or float during shift.
