Description
- Provide specialized nursing care to premature, critically ill, and medically fragile newborns in the NICU.
- Assess, monitor, and document neonatal patient conditions, vital signs, and responses to treatment.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and nutritional support as prescribed.
- Operate and monitor neonatal equipment, including ventilators, CPAP, incubators, and cardiac monitors.
- Assist with emergency procedures, neonatal resuscitation, and stabilization of high-risk infants.
- Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatricians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary care teams.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Educate and support parents and families regarding infant care, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure infection prevention, patient safety, and quality care standards are consistently followed.
- Collect and analyze laboratory specimens and report abnormal findings to the healthcare team.
- Participate in patient rounds, case discussions, and care coordination activities.
- Provide developmental and family-centered care to promote optimal neonatal outcomes.
- Mentor and support new nursing staff and participate in continuing education programs.
- Comply with all nursing regulations, hospital protocols, and ethical standards of practice.
Typical Requirements
- Active RN license.
- BSN or ADN in Nursing.
- NICU experience preferred.
- Current BLS, NRP, and neonatal care certifications as required.
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and neonatal assessment skills.
