Description
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in cardiac and vascular surgeries in the OR
- Ensure sterile technique and OR readiness
- Support pre-, intra-, and post-operative patient care
- Manage instruments, equipment, and surgical documentation (Meditech system)
- Participate in on-call rotation (frequent: approx. every other day + alternate weekends)
Required Experience & Skills
- Active RN license
- ACLS and BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years recent CVOR (acute cardiac OR) experience
- Strong experience in open-heart surgical procedures
Common Procedures in Unit
- CABG (bypass surgery)
- Valve repairs/replacements (MVR, AVR)
- Pacemaker implantation
- Laser lead extractions
- Thoracic and endovascular procedures
- Standby for TAVR and MitraClip cases
Unit Overview
- 2 open-heart operating suites
- Staffing: ~2 RNs + 2 techs per shift
- Patient ratio: 2:1
- On-call coverage required due to surgical nature
- Scrubs provided by facility
