Description
Registered Nurse - PCU (Progressive Care Unit)
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Rotating weekends required
- Float required as needed across all facilities
- Unit: 30-bed Medical Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit focused on medical neurological patients
- Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department provides patient monitoring surveillance
- Staff schedules are set in 6-week periods via self-scheduling system
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including Neuro PCU experience
- PCU experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for Cardiac Progressive Care and MS/Tele units)
- Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia Exam (must pass with minimum 82%)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (EPIC or Dysrhythmia/EKG testing)
Licensure
- NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (required for badge issuance)
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including aliases, criminal, sex offender, federal court, education verification, and international searches if applicable
- Transcript/Diploma copy may be required for education verification
- Employment Application/Resume with 7-year work history
- Verification of all employment within last 5 years through third-party vendor
- Two supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
- Annual Skills Checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
- Facility-specific documents including Health History Form, Dress Code acknowledgment, Floating Policy, Contractor Equipment Acknowledgement Form
- Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam (if applicable) within 12 months of start
- Fit Mask test (N95 respirator fit test) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
- Adult Tdap vaccine proof required
- Negative TB test (Qgold/TSPOT) within 6 months of start or chest X-ray if history positive
- TB Questionnaire within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity via positive titer or vaccination series
- Hepatitis B immunity or declination documentation
- Varicella immunity via positive titer or vaccination series
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start (includes THC, opiates, methadone, cocaine, PCP, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, oxycodone, propoxyphene)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 22 - Feb 27)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Compliance deadline is 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to start date
- Candidates must complete a Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs regardless of specialty
- All travelers are subject to float across all facilities if needed
- Candidates will receive Workday login and onboarding tasks two weeks prior to start, including multi-factor authentication setup
- Facility requires strict adherence to education verification and background check policies; no open hits on background check allowed
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
