Description

Job Title: SLMC - IR
Job Location: Kenosha, WI
Job Duration: 13 weeks 
Shift:  Weekend 1st shift position - working 3 12-hour shifts (Fridays - Sundays 0700 - 1930)

●        About Facility:

o   Milwaukee, WI

o   Level III Trauma Center

o   Level III NICU

o   Magnet Designation

o   Comprehensive Stroke Center

o   Beds: 933

o   Covid vaccine required

●        General Information:

o   Rooms: 5

o   Will you accept a traveler with 1-year experience Yes, for RN and RT(R)

o   Will you accept a first-time traveler Yes, as long as they have IR experience for RN and RT(R)

●        Patient Types:

o   Department is staffed 24/7

o   All adults, no peds

o   General IR: Kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty (not performed at night), central line/piccs/ports, fistulograms, IVC filter, nephrostomy tubes, nephroureteral stents, peripheral leg cases, coil embolization, thoras/paras; CT Room supported by IR - cryos, CT biopsies, drains, etc. (not performed at night); AAA intervention experience preferred

o   Neuro IR ( required for RN; send for manager approval if RT does not have Neuro experience): strokes, embolization; not performed at night - DSA, WADA test, spinal angios

●        Patients seen in a day:

o   Around 40-50 patients a day on average

●        Required Licensure and Certifications:

o   RN: BLS, ACLS

o   RT(R): ARRT, BLS; WI License

●        Skills required:

o   RN: Experience with above patients, will give sedation unless anesthesia is involved, monitor and chart

o   RT(R): Scrubbing and panning simultaneously, experience with General IR cases aboveWould prefer them be comfortable with charging/coding for procedures but not required

●        Support on the Unit:

o   Receptionist/HUC: Two coordinators

o   Lead Tech: Two leads

o   We have two techs in each exam room, sometimes three techs if possible and it's an involved case. The same structure for taking call (Two techs per room

o   Tech specialists

o   Respiratory Therapy: 24/7

o   Hospitalist: 24/7

o   CNA/Transporter: Yes, here 24/7; could help transport own patients though

●        Technology/Equipment:

o   EMR: EPIC – experience preferred for RNs

o   IV pumps: Alaris

o   Medication dispensing: Pyxis

o   PACS: Change Healthcare

o   Equipment used?

▪        Siemens and Client equipment – experience preferred

▪        Injector: MedRad

▪        Other equipment (experience not required): IVUS, Ultrasound (Client), Laser, Bovie for some port removals, Angiojet

●        Floating: If yes, where No

●        Orientation: Will orient with a preceptor for 1-2 weeks and be checked off

●        Scheduling:

o   Weekend rotation: Call

o   On call for RT(R):

▪        Weekday call (Monday – Thursday) - 1 call shift per week usually, EOS until following day at 0700

▪        Weekend call (Friday-Sunday) - Once every 5 th  weekend, EOS Friday until Monday at 0700

o   On call for RN:

▪        Weekday call (Monday – Thursday) – 1 call shift per week, EOS until following morning at 0700.

▪        Weekend call (Friday-Sunday) – Once every 5 th  or 6 th  weekend, EOS Friday until Monday at 0700

o   Call info for both:

▪        Travelers will only take Neuro Call if they have Neuro experience. If not, then will just take General IR call. Travelers with Neuro IR and General IR experience can be asked to take both depending on need

▪         If the job posting is for an overnight shift, there is no call

▪        Response time: 30 minutes

o   Holiday Expectations: No holidays right now, but subject to change (would be call only)

o   RTO Approval: We can approve up to 7 days

o   Shift times when on call:

▪        General IR: 0700-1530

▪        Neuro: 0730-1600

▪        Manager is open to altering shift times (i.e. – if the job posting is for five 8h shift, she is willing to change to four 10h shifts or two 8s and two 12s)

o   Schedule cycle: see above

●        Other notes:

o   Scrub Color: Provided

o   Parking: Free in parking structure, will just need badge access
