Summa Health is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist with strong expertise in Orthopedic Trauma, Neuro, Spine, Gynecology, and Urology procedures to join its Operating Room team at Akron Campus. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled OR professional who thrives in a fast-paced surgical environment and is comfortable supporting a variety of complex surgical specialties.

Position Details:

• Position: Surgical Technologist
• Department: Operating Room (OR)
• Location: Akron Campus, Ohio
• Assignment Length: 13 Weeks
• Openings: 1
• Schedule: 4x10-Hour Shifts
• Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
• On-Call: Required
• Interview Required

Required Specialty Experience:
 

Candidates must have recent operating room experience and be proficient in:

✔ Orthopedic Trauma Surgery
✔ Neuro Surgery
✔ Spine Surgery
✔ Gynecology Procedures
✔ Urology Procedures

Candidates without experience in these specialties may not be considered.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare operating rooms with required instruments, equipment, and supplies
• Function as the scrub technologist throughout surgical procedures
• Maintain sterile technique and surgical field integrity
• Anticipate surgeon needs during procedures
• Handle surgical instruments and specialty equipment safely and efficiently
• Assist with room turnover and preparation between cases
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and surgical staff
• Ensure compliance with patient safety and infection control standards

Required Qualifications:
 

Education:

• Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Technologist Program

Certifications:
 

✔ BCLS (Basic Life Support) Certification Required

✔ Current National Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification through NBSTSA Preferred

OR

✔ Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification Preferred.
 

Experience:

• Recent Operating Room experience required
• Strong scrub experience in:
  • Ortho Trauma
  • Neuro
  • Spine
  • Gynecology
  • Urology

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and sterile technique
• Ability to operate sterilizers and specialized OR equipment
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to adapt to changing surgical schedules and priorities
• Strong attention to detail and patient safety
• Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with patient positioning and equipment movement
