Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Technologist (MT) to join the laboratory team. The Medical Technologist will perform complex laboratory testing and analysis on patient specimens, ensuring accurate and timely results that support patient diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, critical thinking abilities, and a commitment to maintaining laboratory quality and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing in one or more areas including:
    • Hematology
    • Chemistry
    • Microbiology
    • Blood Bank/Transfusion Services
    • Immunology/Serology
    • Urinalysis
  • Analyze, interpret, and verify laboratory test results.
  • Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instrumentation.
  • Perform quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of testing.
  • Collect, process, and prepare specimens for analysis following established protocols.
  • Document and report laboratory findings accurately and promptly.
  • Investigate and resolve testing discrepancies or instrument issues.
  • Adhere to all laboratory safety standards, infection control practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with CAP, CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and other applicable standards.
  • Participate in proficiency testing, competency assessments, and continuing education activities.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals to support patient care.
  • Assist with training and mentoring laboratory staff and students as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field.
  • Certification as one of the following:
    • ASCP (MLS/MT)
    • AMT (MT)
    • Equivalent nationally recognized certification
  • Current state licensure if required by state regulations.
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent clinical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a hospital, reference laboratory, or acute care setting preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of laboratory equipment and computer systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity required for specimen handling and laboratory procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
