Overview
Step into a high-acuity Cath Lab environment where your vascular interventional expertise truly matters. As a Cath Lab Technician at Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, you’ll be a key member of a tight-knit cardiovascular team, scrubbing a broad spectrum of invasive cardiology procedures—from diagnostic cardiac caths to complex PCI cases with frequent Impella insertions during STEMI emergencies. This is a 13-week travel assignment designed for experienced technologists who are confident in fast-paced, high-stakes settings and ready to deliver exceptional care to patients when it counts most.
Required Skills
- Active RCIS and/or RTR certification
- Minimum 2+ years of experience as an RCIS
- Extensive hands-on scrubbing experience in invasive cardiology, including:
- Diagnostic cardiac catheterization
- Complex PCI procedures
- Demonstrated proficiency in scrubbing procedures at both diagnostic and PCI levels
- Proven experience assisting with Impella insertion and management, particularly in STEMI cases
- Strong knowledge of Cath Lab workflows, sterile technique, and radiation safety
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team under time-sensitive conditions
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in emergent situations
Nice to Have Skills
- Prior experience scrubbing:
- Pacemaker insertions
- EP ablations
- Previous travel assignment experience in a Cath Lab or interventional setting
- Familiarity with a variety of Cath Lab imaging systems and documentation platforms
Preferred Education and Experience
- Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, or related program
- 3+ years of recent, progressive experience in an interventional Cath Lab environment
- Solid track record of performance in high-volume or high-acuity cardiac facilities
Other Requirements
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 5x8-hour day shifts, 40 hours per week
- On-Call: One day per week and every other weekend (with applicable on-call and callback pay)
- Location: Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, VA (Virginia license required)
- Flu Vaccine: Must be completed at least one week prior to start date
- References: Minimum of two current professional references required for submission
- Willingness to adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and quality standards
