Floating Requirements Will be based on traveler's experience/unit needs and assigned appropriately.

Position Overview

Respiratory Therapists will be assigned patient care responsibilities based on departmental needs and clinical experience. Assignments may include ICU, Emergency Department, or Medical/Surgical units.

Schedule

• Shift: 12-Hour Nights
• Hours: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend (EOW)
• Holiday Requirement: Travelers must work 75% of holidays
• On-Call: Not required
• Schedule Cycle: Every 6 weeks

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapy critical care experience
• First-time travelers considered
• Previous Level I Trauma Center and/or high-acuity hospital experience preferred

Patient Population

Patient assignments vary based on departmental needs and may include:

• Critical Care
• Post-Surgical Patients
• Pneumonia
• COPD
• Asthma
• Emergency Department Patients
• Neonatal and Pediatric Patients (as applicable)

Licensure & Certifications

Adult Respiratory Therapist

Required:

• North Carolina Respiratory Care License
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• BLS
• ACLS

NICU/Pediatric Respiratory Therapist

Required:

• North Carolina Respiratory Care License
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• BLS
• PALS
• NRP

Note:

• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) is acceptable but not preferred.

Required Skills

• Critical care respiratory therapy experience
• Strong ventilator management skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment

Department Support

• Dedicated Adult and Pediatric Lead Respiratory Therapists on each shift
• Collaborative team environment with experienced leadership and staff

Technology & Equipment

EMR

• Epic

Preferred Equipment Experience

• Servo-U
• Servo Air
• The Vest
• Volara
• Aerogen
• Heated High Flow Therapy
• Cough Assist

Additional Pediatric Equipment Preferred

• HFJV (High-Frequency Jet Ventilation)
• HFOV (High-Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation)

Floating

Therapists will not float arbitrarily. Assignments will be based on clinical experience, competency, and departmental needs.

Orientation

• New Employee Orientation (NEO)
• 1–2 days of department-specific orientation
