Registered Nurse – Neurology / Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (Telemetry)

Location: Rochester, NY
Unit: 516 Neurology / Level 4 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Start Date: ASAP

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its specialized Neurology Unit. The RN will provide comprehensive care to patients with complex neurological conditions, including stroke, epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Guillain-Barré Syndrome, and other acute neurological disorders. This unit is home to the region's only Level 4 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and a Joint Commission-accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care to neurological and telemetry patients
Perform comprehensive neurological assessments and monitor for changes in patient condition
Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms
Care for patients undergoing continuous video EEG monitoring in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit
Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
Respond to acute neurological events and escalate care appropriately

Schedule & Shift Details

Rotating Day / Evening / Night Shifts
12-Hour Shifts- 3 or 4 Shifts per Week (36 or 48 Hours)
Weekends, Holidays, On-Call, Callback, and Charge responsibilities as required by unit needs

Requirements

Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) License
Minimum 2 Years of RN Experience
Telemetry Experience Required
BLS Certification Required
NIHSS Certification Highly Preferred

Strong neurological assessment and critical thinking skills preferred
