Description

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (per compliance requirements)
  • Med-Surg experience within the last year (required)
  • MS/Tele experience preferred
  • Travel experience required (No first-time travelers)
  • Experience with:
    • Heparin drips
    • IV starts
    • Lab draws
    • EPIC documentation (preferred but strongly desired)
    • Telemetry monitoring
    • Dysrhythmia interpretation

Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • NIHSS
  • Tele/EKG Exam required

Required Schedule Commitment

  • 4 x 12-hour night shifts (7 PM–7 AM)
  • Every third weekend required
  • Floating required

Patient Population Experience

Must be comfortable caring for:

  • Orthopedic post-op patients (joint replacements, fractures)
  • Trauma patients
  • Back and neck surgery patients
  • Post-craniotomy patients
  • Seizure patients
  • Stroke patients
  • Adult and geriatric populations

Clinical Skills Required

  • Blood glucose monitoring
  • Foley catheter insertion (male & female)
  • Feeding tube/NG tube/G-tube care
  • IM and SQ injections
  • Oxygen administration
  • Patient admissions
  • Isolation precautions/PPE
  • Vital sign monitoring
  • Ambulation assistance
  • Telemetry monitoring on the unit
