Interventional Radiology Technologist (IR Tech)

Duration: 13 Weeks + High possibility of extension

Schedule: 4x10-Hour Day Shifts | 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Schedule Note: Rotating day off each week

 

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Interventional Radiology Technologist to perform a variety of routine and specialized interventional radiology procedures. The IR Technologist serves as a critical liaison between patients, radiologists, physicians, and the healthcare team, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic imaging services. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent patient care skills, and a commitment to radiation safety and quality improvement. Pediatric IR experience is preferred.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and advanced interventional radiology procedures as ordered by physicians.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and provide compassionate, patient-centered care throughout the imaging process.
  • Verify patient identity, informed consent, and pregnancy status when applicable.
  • Assess patient history, laboratory results, medication contraindications, and other factors that may impact procedures.
  • Administer and document contrast media according to established protocols and patient-specific factors.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with departmental and regulatory standards.
  • Operate and troubleshoot radiology equipment, RIS, PACS, and related imaging systems.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels and ensure procedure rooms are adequately stocked.
  • Adhere to radiation safety standards and infection control guidelines.
  • Participate in quality assurance, quality improvement, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Provide education, training, and mentorship to students, staff, and healthcare team members.
  • Maintain a safe and hazard-free environment for patients and staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Radiology Program.
  • ARRT Registered Technologist in Radiography (R-ARRT).
  • Texas Medical Board Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT).
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Minimum 3 years of radiology experience across one or more imaging modalities.
  • Strong knowledge of radiology procedures, anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and patient care skills.
     

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interventional Radiology experience required.
  • Pediatric Interventional Radiology experience preferred.
  • VI (Vascular Interventional) Certification preferred.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
