- Typical Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
- May Flex to 1:5 During Emergencies
- Patient Acuity Varies; Some Patients May Be Comparable to Progressive Care or Telemetry Patients in Larger Facilities
Requirements
- 1.5–2+ Years of Recent RN Experience Required
- Minimum 1 Year of Med Surg/Telemetry Experience Required
- Minimum 2 Years of Stepdown Experience Required
- Must Be Able to Read and Interpret Telemetry Strips
- IV Start Skills Required
- Telemetry Experience Required
- Travel Experience Not Required
Certifications
- BLS (AHA) Required
- ACLS (AHA) Required

- Stepdown unit acuity varies and includes patients who may be considered Progressive Care or Telemetry level in larger healthcare systems.
