Description

Job Title: MRI Technologist (Dual-Site Specialized Assignment)

Locations: Dover, NH (Main Campus) & Lee, NH (Satellite Facility)

Contract Duration: 13 Weeks (07/06/2026 – 09/26/2026)

Shift Matrix: Highly Structured Rotating Schedule (36 Hours Per Week)

  • Saturday & Sunday: 07:00 – 20:30 (13.5-Hour Shifts)
  • Monday: 12:30 – 23:00 (10.5-Hour Shift)

Status: Open | Positions Available: 1

Critical Submission Guardrails (Hardstops)

🚫 Absolute Minimum Qualifications for Review:

  • Licensure: Active New Hampshire (NH) Medical Imaging License must be held at the time of submission.
  • Registry: Must be fully registered through the ARRT with a dedicated Magnetic Resonance Imaging certification (MR). (Note: Requisition text notes ARRT (M) which traditionally indicates mammography, but given the job title and system context, active ARRT (MR) registry is required).
  • Hardware/Software Mastery: Verifiable, hands-on experience operating Philips MRI Scanners and documenting within Epic EMR is a strict requirement.
  • Travel Policy: No Local Candidates. The facility is explicitly rejecting local applications; only true travel profiles with a permanent address outside the commuting radius will be evaluated.
  • On-Call: No on-call hours are tied to this rotation.

Job Summary

An elite healthcare network in New Hampshire is seeking an autonomous, dual-site MRI Technologist to support a unique weekend and Monday matrix spanning their Main Campus and a specialized outpatient satellite center. This role demands an advanced imaging professional who can independently operate high-field strength magnets without immediate radiologist oversight. You must ensure absolute magnetic safety, execute complex multi-planar scan sequences, and maintain rapid patient throughput for both high-acuity emergency department workloads and scheduled outpatient diagnostic profiles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Multi-Site Clinical Imaging: Fluidly transition between the Main Campus and the satellite outpatient imaging suite, maintaining strict operational familiarity with the localized workflows at both facilities.
  • Philips Scanner Operations: Independently configure and manipulate imaging protocols on specialized Philips systems, adjusting gradient parameters, field of view (FOV), and slice thickness to optimize tissue contrast.
  • Patient Screening & Safety: Enforce flawless Zone I through Zone IV safety controls. Conduct rigorous screening of patients and accompanying families for hidden ferromagnetic implants, pacemakers, or foreign metallic bodies to eliminate catastrophic missile-effect risks.
  • Contrast Administration: Assess renal function indicators (e.g., eGFR calculations), establish intravenous access, and safely administer gadolinium-based contrast agents using automated power injectors.
  • Neuro & Musculoskeletal Scans: Execute advanced diagnostic sequences, including brain stroke protocols, diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), and high-resolution musculoskeletal joint maps.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of continuous clinical experience as a primary MRI Technologist within a fast-paced hospital or high-volume outpatient diagnostic network.
  • Certifications: Active ARRT (MR) registry, current AHA BLS, and valid NH Medical Imaging credentials.

The Technical Workflow: Managing Artifacts & Specific Absorption Rate ($SAR$)

Operating high-field Philips scanners independently requires a deep knowledge of perianesthesia imaging physics. The incoming tech must proactively optimize scan sequences to mitigate patient-specific challenges:

  • Artifact Reduction: When scanning patients with orthopedic hardware or those prone to respiratory motion, you must utilize specialized sequences such as PROPELLER/MultiVane to compensate for motion blurring, or implement metal artifact reduction sequences (MARS) to minimize susceptibility distortions around implants.
  • $SAR$ Monitoring: For pediatric, pregnant, or medically fragile patients, you must actively track and modulate the Specific Absorption Rate ($SAR$)—measured in watts per kilogram ($W/\text{kg}$)—by adjusting flip angles or increasing repetition times ($TR$) to prevent excessive radiofrequency energy absorption and localized tissue heating.
