As a CVOR Registered Nurse, you’ll be a critical member of the surgical team, caring for patients undergoing complex cardiovascular procedures in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You’ll work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and fellow OR staff to deliver safe, efficient, and compassionate care throughout the perioperative continuum—scrub to recovery.

This role is ideal for experienced CVOR nurses who thrive on precision, enjoy working with advanced technology, and want to make a direct impact on patient outcomes while benefiting from the flexibility and rewards of travel assignments.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in circulating (and/or scrubbing) for cardiovascular surgical procedures
  • Solid understanding of sterile technique, OR safety protocols, and cardiovascular anatomy/physiology
  • Experience with perioperative documentation and electronic medical records
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple cases in a high-volume, high-acuity environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with surgeons, anesthesia, and OR teams
  • Proven ability to respond calmly and effectively in urgent and emergent situations
  • Flexibility to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays according to schedule needs

Nice to Have Skills

  • Previous travel nursing experience in CVOR
  • Familiarity with Emory or similar large academic/tertiary care health systems
  • Experience with minimally invasive and complex open-heart procedures
  • Precepting or mentoring experience with OR staff or travelers
  • Experience with advanced hemodynamic monitoring and cardiovascular equipment

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • 3+ years of dedicated Cardiovascular OR experience in a hospital setting
  • Prior experience in a Level I or high-acuity cardiovascular surgical program

Other Requirements

  • Ability to commit to a travel assignment with an average of 70+ hours per four-week schedule (may vary)
  • Availability to meet weekend requirements:
    • One (1) Friday shift per schedule
    • One (1) Saturday shift per schedule
    • One (1) Sunday shift per schedule
(Weekend shifts do not need to be consecutive.)
  • Ability to work the following shift patterns:
    • Weekdays: 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM and 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
    • Weekends & holidays: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Atlanta, GA

About

A true Southern gem, Atlanta, Georgia, is a city rooted in the past but leading the way into the future. Atlanta is known for its beautiful skyline and many attractions, including the Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coca Cola and the CNN Center. Local restaurants like The Varsity and Mary Mac’s Tea Room showcase the city’s rich Southern cuisine, and visitors quickly notice that almost every street downtown has “peach” in the name. The cost of living is much lower than in many similar cities in the more crowded Northeast, but the quality of life is as good or better. Atlanta is also home to the world’s busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson International, making air travel a breeze, and Atlantic Station, a great place to shop til you drop. There's literally something for everyone from historic homes and museums to sports teams like the Braves, Hawks, Falcons, Dream and United FC.
