Description

General Information

Unit Specifics:

·        Number of Beds: 16

·        Patient Ratios: 3-5 patients per day

·        Unit staffing description- (unit secretaries and tech availability): No therapy aides on staff. PCTs occasionally assist w/ patients when available. Therapists see patients 90 minutes a day, split into two 45-minute blocks. On weekends, if low staffed and high census, you may see most patients for one 45-minute block to be able to see more patients.

·        Type of equipment: Sara Stedy, Vector, BITS, BURT, Bioness H200 UE, ARJO mobility device and mechanical lift. Liko overhead lift, Walkers, canes, wheelchairs.

·        Documentation system: EPIC and UDS

·        Scheduling requirements: needs are every Fri-Sun, all 8–9-hour shifts plus one shift mid-week shift either on the ARC or on the acute care side. Cross training on the acute side will occur during week two. If ARC is slow w/ a low census, traveler will be assigned on acute for the day.    

·        Floating policy: If census is low, traveler will be floated to the acute care side of the hospital.  

·        Patient Experience requirements: Previous acute rehab or acute care experience preferred.

Hospital Specifics-

·        Certifications: BLS up to date. MSPT or DPT degree from an accredited PT program, pass the NPTE, Utah state license to practice is required.

Requested Skill Set:

 

Must Have: Candidates need to have a good understanding of neuro, multi-trauma, and medically complex diagnoses. Be able to complete a thorough chart review and have a good understanding of lab values, weight bearing precautions, etc.  Candidate needs to be flexible, be able to demonstrate skill through good documentation, communicate well, have good time mgmt skills and be a team player.

Advanced skills needed: Have a good understanding and previous use of mobility devices and lift systems. Understand the use and application of back braces, UE/LE positioning devices, hip/spine/cardiac precautions, etc. Utilize clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills to help advance patient through their continuum of care

Procedures performed on unit: neuro re-education, gait training, balance, wheelchair training, cognitive re-education, vestibular training, energy conservation, BUE/BLE ROM and strengthening, orthotic use and fit, home safety and family training.

Certifications Required: BLS, Utah PT license

Dress Code: (Required uniform)

·         Gray scrub top and black scrub pants and closed toed shoes. Ok to wear gray business casual shirt and black pants. No shirts w/ logos, jeans, leggings or shorts.
