Registered Respiratory Therapist – Rhode Island Hospital | Providence, RI

Rhode Island Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week travel assignment at a nationally recognized Level I Trauma and academic teaching hospital. This role requires expertise in both adult and pediatric respiratory care, with responsibilities spanning critical care units, the Pediatric Emergency Department (PED), and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Hasbro Children's Hospital. Candidates must be comfortable working in high-acuity environments and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams caring for critically ill trauma and specialty patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive respiratory care to adult and pediatric patients in ICU, emergency, trauma, and inpatient settings.
  • Manage ventilators, airway support, oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and emergency respiratory interventions.
  • Respond to respiratory emergencies and participate in rapid response and code situations.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced teaching hospital environment.
  • Deliver care in both adult and pediatric critical care units, including PED and PICU.

Requirements:

  • Active Rhode Island Respiratory Therapist license (or ability to obtain; approximately 4–5 weeks processing time).
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • ACLS and PALS certifications preferred.
  • Previous adult critical care experience required.
  • Pediatric respiratory therapy experience required.
  • Level I Trauma and ICU experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a teaching hospital environment preferred.

  • Location: Rhode Island Hospital – Providence, RI
  • Duration: 13 Weeks
  • Schedule: 36 hours per week
  • Shift: Nights
  • Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Yes
  • On-Call: None
  • Block Scheduling: Not available
  • Dress Code: Any color scrubs
  • Parking: Free parking provided. Night shift staff may park in the main parking lot. Day shift staff parking at the Coro Garage requires shuttle transportation.
