🏥 Med-Surg RN Job Breakdown (5A)

Shift: 3x12 Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Weekly Hours: 36 hrs Guaranteed
Unit: 5A Medical-Surgical
Beds: 24
Charting: Meditech
Ratio: 1:6

🩺 Core Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Care: ~20 hrs/week
  Care for adult and geriatric Med-Surg patients, including assessments, treatments, medication administration, and monitoring.
• Patient Monitoring & Reassessment: ~5–6 hrs/week
  Ongoing evaluation of patient conditions, response to treatment, and coordination of care plans.
• Medication & Treatment Administration: ~4–5 hrs/week
  IV medications, wound care, blood draws, and management of common acute medical conditions.
• Documentation & Care Coordination: ~4 hrs/week
  Meditech charting, interdisciplinary communication, discharge planning, and patient education.
• Floating & Unit Support: ~2–3 hrs/week
  May float as needed based on staffing and census requirements.

📌 Key Requirements

• BLS required
• NIH required
• Handle With Care (HWC) required (available on-site)
• Active Virginia RN License
• 1+ year Med-Surg experience required
• 2+ years Med-Surg experience preferred

• 24-bed Medical-Surgical unit
• 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Serves primarily adult and geriatric patients
• Every other weekend/as-needed coverage
• Floating may be required
• Flexible scrub color policy (no casual attire)
