โฐ Contract & Weekly Hours

  • Contract Length: 13 Weeks
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours/Week
  • Shift Options: 12-Hour Days or Nights
    • Day: 7:00 AM โ€“ 7:00 PM
    • Night: 7:00 PM โ€“ 7:00 AM
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Required as needed

  • Facility: Aspirus Wausau Hospital
  • 50-Mile Radius Rule: Travelers must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility.

๐Ÿ“‹ Required Qualifications

Licensure & Certifications

  • Wisconsin RN License
  • BLS (AHA or ARC)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med-Surg hospital experience
  • Level II Trauma experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience REQUIRED
  • EPIC experience REQUIRED

Post Surgical Care Unit (PSCU)

  • 40-bed inpatient post-surgical unit
  • Adult and geriatric patient population
  • Provides care across the surgical recovery continuum following PACU discharge

Patient Ratios

  • Days/Evenings: 1:4โ€“5
  • Nights: 1:5โ€“7

Unit Environment

  • Fast-paced surgical recovery unit
  • Average 10โ€“15 admissions per day
  • Occupancy rate: 90โ€“95%
  • Average Length of Stay:
    • 2โ€“3 days for most patients
    • Longer for joint replacement patients

Candidates should be comfortable with:

  • Post-operative surgical patient care
  • Frequent admissions and discharges
  • Prioritizing care based on acuity
  • Working in a high-volume team environment
  • Adult and geriatric patient populations

๐Ÿ’ป Equipment & Charting

  • EPIC EMR (Required)
  • Rover medication scanners
  • Alaris IV pumps

๐Ÿงญ Floating Requirements

  • Travelers must float to all inpatient units as needed.
  • Floating is an expectation of the assignment.

๐Ÿ“‰ Low Census Policy

  • Contract includes up to 36 hours of unbillable low census time
  • Unit may reduce shifts in:
    • 4-hour increments
    • 8-hour increments
  • Example:
    • Scheduled for 12 hours but asked to work only 4 or 8 hours due to census
  • This is not considered on-call

  • Scrub Color: Any Color

๐Ÿ’‰ Vaccination Policy

During flu season:

  • Travelers declining Flu and/or COVID vaccination must wear a mask at all times.
  • Compliance is mandatory with no exceptions.
  • Failure to comply may result in corrective action.
