๐ฅ Travel RN โ Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
โฐ Shift & Weekly Hours
- Shift Options:
- Days: 6:30 AM โ 7:00 PM
- Nights: 6:30 PM โ 7:00 AM
- Schedule: 3 ร 12-hour shifts
- Weekly Hours: 36 Hours/Week
- Scheduling Cycle: 6-week schedule created by unit schedulers
๐จ Important Facility Requirements
Orientation Exam (Pass/Fail)
- Open-book exam on Friday during orientation
- Based on skills and information taught during orientation week
- All resources are provided
- Minimum passing score: 90%
- Failure to achieve 90% results in contract termination
Radius Rule
- Candidate must live more than 50 miles from the facility
- Driver's License required at submission
- Address on license will be used to verify eligibility
Employment Restriction
Candidates cannot currently be employed as:
- Full-Time
- Part-Time
- PRN
With any:
- CommonSpirit facility
- CHI facility
- Dignity Health facility

Experience
- Strong recent PCU/Stepdown experience
- Comfortable in a high-acuity, high-flow unit
- Ability to manage frequent admissions, transfers, and discharges

- 1:4 RN-to-Patient Ratio
Patient Population
- Adult patients
- Mixed Medical/Surgical
- Cardiac patients
- Stroke patients
- Primarily admitted through the Emergency Department
๐ Drips & Clinical Skills
Titration Required
RNs are expected to titrate drips.
Common Drips
- Heparin
- Octreotide
- Insulin
- Maintenance IV medications
Telemetry
- Telemetry monitoring available
- RNs must independently read and interpret telemetry strips

Charge Nurse
- Present on every shift

Travelers must be willing to float to:
- Med-Surg
- Other hospital units
- ICU (within competency)
- Emergency Department (within competency)
Assignments will be based on skill set and patient care needs.
๐ Weekend & Holiday Requirements
Weekend Requirement
- 6 weekend shifts during each 6-week schedule period
- For night shift, weekends include:
- Friday
- Saturday
Holiday Requirement
- Rotated with permanent staff

Fingernail Policy
๐ซ Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas.
Failure to remove artificial nails will result in termination of the contract.
๐ Orientation
First Week

- 2 ร 12-hour orientation shifts on the unit
๐ Time-Off Policy
- RTO must be submitted upfront
- Maximum of 7 days per 13-week contract
- Additional RTO requests will not be approved after submission
