Travel Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) – Operating Room

Position Overview

Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, located in beautiful Salida, Colorado, is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) to join its operating room team. This role involves assisting surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures, ensuring the operating room is properly prepared, and maintaining strict sterile technique throughout all cases.

The ideal candidate will have strong orthopedic experience and a solid understanding of sterile processing, surgical instrumentation, and intraoperative support.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons and circulating nurses during surgical procedures
• Prepare operating rooms, instruments, and surgical equipment prior to cases
• Ensure all required equipment is available and functioning before procedures begin
• Maintain strict sterile technique and aseptic practices at all times
• Communicate effectively with the surgical team regarding breaks in sterile technique
• Operate and support use of surgical, diagnostic, video, and electrosurgical equipment
• Support Sterile Processing, Endoscopy, and Materials Management as needed
• Safely transport patients to and from the operating room when required

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required
• Active CPR/BLS Certification required
• Recent OR Surgical Technologist experience
• Orthopedic surgical experience required

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong sterile technique and aseptic practice
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs during procedures
• Experience with orthopedic surgical cases
• Proficiency with surgical instruments and OR equipment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced OR setting

Additional Requirements

• Must maintain current CPR certification
