Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) – Blood Bank
Location: Orange, CA
Unit: Clinical Lab
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Start Date: 07/06/2026
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Lab Scientist with strong Blood Bank expertise to join its high-volume clinical laboratory team. This traveler will work independently on night shifts in a 426-bed Magnet-designated acute care hospital and must possess recent Blood Bank travel experience, Trauma Level I experience, and proficiency with Epic Beaker and Blood Bank software systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Blood Bank testing including ABO/Rh typing, antibody screening, antibody identification, and crossmatching.
- Conduct transfusion reaction workups, Rhogam screening, Direct and Indirect Coombs testing, antigen typing, and blood product processing.
- Process, accession, label, transport, and document laboratory specimens accurately.
- Perform quality assurance, quality control, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Operate Blood Bank instrumentation including Immucor systems and related software platforms.
- Utilize Epic Beaker and laboratory information systems for documentation and reporting.
Maintain blood product inventory, storage, and specimen integrity standards.
Schedule & Shift Details
- Night 4x10-Hour Shifts (21:30 – 07:30)
- Start time may flex to 20:00 as needed
- 40 Hours Per Week
Compensation
- Pay on W2: $17/hr
- Weekly Gross: $2600
- Weekly Stipend: $1920
Requirements
- Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License
- Minimum 2 Years Recent Clinical Lab Scientist Experience (Hard Stop)
- Recent/Current Blood Bank Experience Within Last 2 Years (Hard Stop)
- Multiple Blood Bank Travel Assignments Preferred (Seasoned Traveler Required)
- ASCP-BB Certification Required
- Clinical Immunohematology Specialist Certification Preferred
- Epic Experience Required (Hard Stop)
- Blood Bank Software Experience Required (Hard Stop)
- Trauma Level I Experience Required
- Trauma Level II Experience Required
