Registered Nurse - PACU (San Angelo, TX) Travel/Contract Position


Job Details

  • Location: San Angelo, Texas
  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (PACU)
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Day shift (5 days/week, 8 hours/day, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
  • Schedule Options: 3x12s, 4x10s, or 5x8s available; call required overnight and on weekends
  • Start Date: Preferred within the next 3-4 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
  • Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) with consistent legal name across all documents
  • Social Security Card with consistent legal name
  • Background Check: 7-year check required within 30 days of start, including statewide, counties, federal, national, education verification, and international search if applicable
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education Verification or diploma as placeholder if pending
  • NURSYS Verification for RN license within 30 days of start
  • State License verification within 30 days of start
  • Photo for badge (passport-style with solid background)
  • Completion of facility-specific forms prior to start, including:
    • Non-Employee Information Form
    • Vaccine Exemption Form (if applicable)
    • Applicant Health Record Form
    • Code of Conduct and Compliance Form
    • Compact-Temporary License Declaration of Residency Form
    • Confidentiality Statement Form
    • Information System Security Agreement Form
    • Non-Employee Orientation Update Form
    • Traveler Orientation
    • Hepatitis B Declination (if no positive titer on file)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
  • Fit mask test within 6 months prior to start; annual updates required (accepted masks: 3M 1860 and 3M 1860S)
  • Immunizations and titers required within 72 hours of contract signing:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year; chest X-ray required for positive responders)
    • TB Questionnaire annually
    • Rubeola (Measles) - positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if negative/equivocal
    • Mumps - positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if negative/equivocal
    • Rubella - positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if negative/equivocal
    • Hepatitis B - positive titer or series with signed declination if applicable
    • Varicella - positive titer, 2 vaccines, or proof of disease; boosters if negative/equivocal
  • Drug testing required within 30 days of start, including testing for multiple substances (Amphetamines, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Cannabinoid, Cocaine, Opiates, Phencyclidine, Methadone, Propoxyphene)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination form required during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31)
  • Initial COVID-19 vaccination series required (boosters not required)

Competency & Testing

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
  • Pass/Fail testing during orientation covering EKG, medication administration, restraint, and glucometer tests; remediation offered same day if failed

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must provide 2 references within 3 years of start
  • Resume or employment application copy required
  • Skills checklist must be updated annually
  • Call required overnight and on weekends as part of the schedule options

This position requires a highly qualified PACU Registered Nurse with prior travel experience, multiple life support certifications, and compliance with extensive health and background documentation. The role offers flexible shift options with a preference for a start within 3-4 weeks.
