  Postpartum nursing is couplet care. The nurse cares for mom and baby as a dyad. The ratio is aimed at 3:1.
  The postpartum nurse should be able to do heel sticks on the newborn for newborn supplemental screening test, blood sugars, and bilirubin collection.
  Postpartum nurse should be competent to perform a head-to-toe assessment on both the mother and her newborn.
