Unit: 3N Cardiac Tele (Cost Center 14)
Beds: 43 Beds (mostly semi-private; 9–10 private rooms)
Shift: 12-Hour Days or Nights (7:00–7:30)
Ratios: Average 1:5 (can flex to 1:6)

Submission Requirement

⚠️ Must include an unexpired Driver's License with submission

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS

Must-Have Experience

• Cardiac Telemetry experience
• Comfortable reading and interpreting telemetry strips
• Post-cardiac cath patient care
• TR Band management
• Heparin drip management
• CHF and COPD patient management
• Arrhythmia monitoring
• Strong time management in a high-admission/high-discharge environment

Common Patient Population

• Post Heart Cath
• TR Bands
• CHF
• COPD
• Arrhythmias
• Post Pacemaker Patients
• Medical management cardiac patients
• CABG workup/consult patients

Drips

Titrated:

• Heparin
• Occasionally Lasix
• Occasionally Bumex

Non-Titrated:

• Cardizem
• Amiodarone

Telemetry

• Central monitoring station on unit
• Monitor techs available
• RNs must independently read and interpret strips

Support Staff

• Charge Nurse 24/7
  • Night Charge takes assignment
  • Experienced travelers may be asked to function as Charge
• PCT support
  • Goal ratio 1:8
  • Can flex to 1:12–18
  • Assist with ADLs, FSBS, EKGs
• Unit Clerk available

Respiratory Equipment

• CPAP
• BiPAP
• Occasional High Flow Oxygen
• Respiratory therapy available

Scheduling

• Self-scheduling available
• Block scheduling accommodated when unit needs allow

Weekend Requirement

• Every Other Weekend (Travelers)
• Nights: Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon
• Days: Sat/Sun

Holiday Requirement

• Travelers may be scheduled based on unit needs and holiday rotation

Floating

• Travelers participate in float rotation
• May float throughout hospital including:
  • Med-Surg
  • Telemetry
  • Stepdown
  • ICU (rare)
• Only assigned patients within skillset

Orientation

• 1 Day Computer Training
• 1 Day Floor Orientation with Preceptor
• Independent by Day 3
