Night, 3 x 12-hour shifts (18:30 – 07:00)
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse for our Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on nights. The RN–PCU will provide advanced nursing care and monitoring to patients requiring close observation and telemetry, collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, and promote patient and family education. This position is located at the Heart Hospital and cares for cardiovascular patients in a 55‑bed unit.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to PCU patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans.
Monitor patients using telemetry and recognize/respond to changes in clinical status; i
nitiate appropriate interventions and escalate to physicians as needed.
Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and emergency medications safely and accurately; document administration per policy.
Perform and interpret routine and specialty assessments (cardiac, respiratory, neuro), and report findings to the clinical team.
Manage post-procedure and post-operative patients requiring intermediate-level care.
Coordinate patient admissions, transfers (including from ICU), and discharges; ensure continuity of care and accurate handovers.
Operate and troubleshoot PCU equipment (telemetry, infusion pumps, oxygen therapy devices); ensure infection control and equipment hygiene.
Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, procedures, discharge instructions, and self-care following hospital policies.
Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, contribute to care plans, and communicate effectively with physicians, therapists, and support staff.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in electronic medical records and complete required clinical forms and reports.
Adhere to hospital policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements; participate in quality improvement and morbidity reviews.

Unit size: 55 beds, cardiovascular focus.
Ratios: 1:4
Weekend requirement: As needed, rotating
Float requirement: YES
On-call requirement: None
Block scheduling: Case by case
RTO (Return to Origin) parameters: As per agency/facility policy (case by case)
First-time travelers: Accepted
Local travelers: Accepted
Experience & Certifications
Preferred experience: 2 years (will consider 1+ years).
Cardiovascular experience required.
Certification requirements: BLS and ACLS required, NIH and CPI preferred
