Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide care for intermediate and step-down cardiac patients, including downgraded CVICU patients.
  • Monitor and manage patients with CHF, CVA, A-fib RVR, post-cardiac procedures, vascular conditions, and thoracic surgery cases.
  • Assess, monitor, and titrate cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Nitro, Nicardipine, Epinephrine, Cardizem, and other vasoactive medications.
  • Interpret telemetry rhythms and cardiac monitoring data.
  • Collaborate with cardiology, intensivists, respiratory therapy, and multidisciplinary care teams.
  • Manage patients requiring BiPAP, CPAP, and oxygen therapy.
  • Float to same or lower-acuity units as needed.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of recent CVU, Cardiac Step-Down, Telemetry, or Progressive Care experience.
  • Experience with cardiac drips and telemetry interpretation.
  • Comfortable caring for post-cardiac surgery and cardiovascular patients.

Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS

Additional Details

  • Epic EMR experience preferred.
  • Every other weekend required.
  • Navy blue scrubs required.
  • Travelers must be willing to float.
  • Open-book competency exam during orientation (90% passing score required).
  • Radius Rule: Candidate must live more than 50 miles from the facility.
  • RTO must be submitted upfront (maximum 7 days per 13-week contract).
  • Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment.
