Description
Registered Nurse (MedSurg/Telemetry)
Location: Prescott, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Unit: Telemetry - Surgical/Neuro (4th Floor)
Patient Ratio: 1:5
Unit Beds: 48 (two units: 4A and 4B)
Job Description
- Care for patients with diagnoses including COVID-19, respiratory issues, gastrointestinal conditions, diabetes, TIA, CVA, general medical, orthopedic, and spinal surgical cases.
- Telemetry monitored remotely; telemetry technicians on a different floor read and post strips.
- RNs interpret telemetry strips and must sign off at least once per shift.
- No requirement for RNs to titrate drips; diltiazem is administered at a set rate.
- Respiratory equipment used includes BiPAP, CPAP, high flow oxygen, and some breathing treatments.
- Charge nurses and house supervisors are present; charge nurses do not take patient assignments.
- Nurse aides support the unit with a ratio of approximately 1:10-15.
- Floating to other units such as East Campus or PCU may be required if qualified.
Schedule & Requirements
- 12-hour day shifts with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
- Schedules created for 4-week blocks with self-scheduling subject to manager approval.
- Weekend requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule.
- Holiday coverage expected for Christmas, New Year’s, and Thanksgiving with specific shift combinations.
- No call or standby requirements.
Orientation
- One shift of unit/department-specific orientation.
- Recommended experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, CVA, and TIA.
- Cerner experience is recommended due to limited orientation time.
Required Certifications & Qualifications
- Current RN license.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
- Ability to read basic telemetry strips.
- Prior experience in MedSurg/Telemetry nursing preferred.
Dress Code
- Navy blue scrubs.

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Nurses may be expected to float to other units if qualified.
