Description
Registered Nurse – Behavioral Health
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Work schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- 4 weekend shifts required within a 6-week period
- Float to Adult Behavioral Health unit or other locations as needed
- Patient diagnoses include Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD), and Bipolar Disorder
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Behavioral Health nursing experience
- Behavioral Health nursing experience within the last year
- Experience in an inpatient Behavioral Health setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Pass/Fail EKG exam required (except Behavioral Health RNs)
- STARR certification preferred
- EPIC system proficiency required
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) training not required due to on-site training
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (required for badge issuance)
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including aliases, social security trace, criminal, federal court, sex offender, and education verification
- Foreign equivalency evaluation if education was obtained outside the U.S.
- Education verification: Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Verification of all employment within the last 5 years through a third-party vendor
- Two supervisory references required, with at least one from within 12 months prior to start
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam (if applicable) within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test completed within the current calendar year and updated annually (N95 respirators approved)
- Proof of adult Tdap vaccine
- Negative TB test (Qgold/TSPOT) within 6 months of start or chest X-ray if positive history
- TB questionnaire within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis B titer or declination with booster series as applicable
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start (includes THC, opiates, methadone, cocaine, PCP, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, oxycodone, propoxyphene)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/22/2025 – 2/27/2026)
Additional Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific forms including health history and contractor equipment acknowledgment
- Review and sign floating policy for contracted staff
- Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing pose)
- Workday login and onboarding tasks must be completed prior to start
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
Notes
- Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Compliance deadline is 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to the start date
- EPIC test requires passing score with up to 2 attempts; additional attempts may be allowed onsite at manager’s discretion
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for all RNs except Behavioral Health and Case Managers, with 2 attempts allowed to pass
This position offers an opportunity to work in a behavioral health hospital setting with a focus on adult and adolescent psychiatric care. The role requires strong clinical skills, flexibility, and compliance with rigorous credentialing and health requirements.
