Full-Time | Day Shift | Direct Hire
White Plains Hospital is seeking an experienced Lactation Consultant (IBCLC, RN) to support mothers, newborns, and families through evidence-based lactation care and education. This role provides inpatient and outpatient lactation services, collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, and serves as a clinical resource for breastfeeding support initiatives. The Lactation Consultant plays a key role in maintaining Baby-Friendly standards, promoting positive maternal-newborn outcomes, and supporting organizational quality initiatives.

Schedule
Shift Details
- Day Shift
- Four (4) 10-hour shifts per week
- Schedule: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM or 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Candidates must be flexible to work either schedule
- Guaranteed 40 hours per week
- Block scheduling available
- No routine on-call requirements noted
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $122,531 - $157,793 annually
- Hourly Rate: $58.91 - $75.86 per hour
- Estimated Weekly Earnings: $2,356.37 - $3,034.48

Key Responsibilities
Lactation Consultation & Patient Care
- Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized lactation care plans for mothers and newborns
- Provide inpatient and outpatient lactation consultations
- Deliver evidence-based breastfeeding education and support
- Assist families with feeding challenges and lactation concerns
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams to optimize maternal-newborn outcomes
- Provide direct patient care as a Registered Nurse when needed
Education & Program Development
- Facilitate prenatal and postpartum breastfeeding education classes
- Develop and coordinate lactation orientation and continuing education programs for nursing and physician staff
- Ensure staff competency and compliance with lactation best practices
- Serve as a clinical resource for lactation-related questions and support
Baby-Friendly & Quality Initiatives
- Support and maintain Baby-Friendly Hospital designation requirements
- Participate in data collection, reporting, and quality improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with hospital leadership, providers, and administrators to ensure compliance with Baby-Friendly standards
- Promote evidence-based breastfeeding practices throughout the organization
Program Management & Compliance
- Oversee and manage the breast pump rental program
- Ensure Human Donor Milk processes comply with regulatory requirements and hospital policies
- Maintain accurate documentation and regulatory compliance
- Participate in performance improvement activities and departmental initiatives
- Utilize infection prevention and control standards
- Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and competency reviews
Education Requirements
Required
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current New York State Registered Nurse License
Licensure & Certification Requirements
Required
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
- BLS Certification
- NRP Certification
- ACLS Certification
- Current New York State RN License
Experience Requirements
Required
- Knowledge of current nursing, lactation, medical, and healthcare best practices
- Experience providing maternal-newborn patient education and breastfeeding support
- Successful completion of departmental and unit orientation programs
Preferred
- Previous inpatient and outpatient lactation consulting experience
- Experience supporting Baby-Friendly initiatives
- Experience developing staff education and competency programs
- Quality improvement and data collection experience
