NICU RN – Travel Assignment (Level III/IV NICU – Night Shift)


Location: North Austin Medical Center, Texas
Shift: 3x12 Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: 07/13/2026 (ASAP)
Positions Available: 5

Job Summary

We are seeking experienced NICU Registered Nurses (RN) for a high-acuity Level III/IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The RN will provide specialized care to critically ill, premature, and high-risk newborns while supporting families through education, emotional support, and discharge preparation.

This is a large, fast-paced NICU with advanced technology and a highly collaborative neonatal care team.

Unit Overview

  • Level III/IV NICU
  • 97 beds
  • Approx. 200 staff members
  • Patient ratio: 3–4 infants per RN
  • EMR systems: CPN and Meditech
  • Strong RN-focused care model with minimal ancillary staff

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive care to premature and critically ill newborns
  • Monitor and manage neonatal vital signs and conditions
  • Administer medications and manage advanced NICU equipment
  • Support ventilated and high-acuity infants
  • Educate and support parents on newborn care and discharge planning
  • Collaborate with neonatologists and multidisciplinary teams

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN License (State or Compact)
  • BLS Certification
  • Minimum 2 years of Level III NICU experience
  • Strong clinical judgment in neonatal critical care

Preferred Qualifications

  • Level IV NICU experience
  • Experience with Meditech or CPN EMR
  • Previous travel nursing experience (not first-time traveler preferred)

Additional Details

  • No on-call requirement
  • Night shift only (7 PM – 7 AM)
  • Navy scrubs required
  • Strict dress code (no nail polish or artificial nails)
  • Must be compassionate, adaptable, and team-oriented
  • Fast-paced, high-acuity environment
