ABOUT THIS POSITION

We are hiring Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for 10 full-time openings at the VA Hudson Valley Healthcare System in Montrose, NY. Positions are supported by a long-term federal staffing contract running through June 2031. This is a permanent-schedule staff role — not travel, not per diem.

You'll provide direct patient care to veterans on medical, psychiatric, and geriatric units across the Montrose and Castle Point VA Medical Centers, working alongside RNs, physicians, and interdisciplinary care teams.

SHIFTS AVAILABLE

• Days: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM | $33/hr (3 openings)
• Evenings: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM | differential pay (2 openings)
• Extended Days: 7:30 AM – 8:00 PM | up to $40/hr (3 openings)
• Nights: 7:30 PM – 8:00 AM | up to $42/hr (2 openings)

All shifts include federal holidays. Overtime is available and pre-approved.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Administer oral, topical, subcutaneous, IM, and IV medications per VA protocols
• Document all care in VA electronic health records (CPRS/VISTA)
• Monitor and report patient responses to the RN or attending physician
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams across assigned units
• Uphold VA, Joint Commission, and ANA patient safety standards

REQUIREMENTS

• Active, unrestricted LPN license — any U.S. state (NY license strongly preferred)
• Graduate of a state-approved practical/vocational nursing program
• Current AHA CPR/BLS certification (AHA only — other issuers not accepted)
• English language proficiency (spoken, reading, writing)
• Ability to pass a federal background investigation (cost covered — ~$415 value)

PREFERRED

• Med-surg, psychiatric, geriatric, or long-term care experience
• Prior VA or federal healthcare experience
• Familiarity with CPRS or similar EHR systems

CREDENTIALING NOTE
