Description

Unit: Ortho/Trauma: Preceptor

Experience Required: 2 years experience; prefers travel experience

Certs Required: ACLS, NIHSS, Active OK/Comp License

Skills Required: Chest tube management, trach care, pain management/education, high-level critical thinking, adaptability in handling complex patient outcomes, external fixators and pin site care, would prevention/care. Level 1 Trauma Experience highly preferred. Must be able to read Tele strips

Patient Types: Level 1 Trauma patients including, but limited to GSW, stabbing, blunt force trauma, MVC, spinal cord injuries, falls, work/farm accidents, liver/spleen lacerations.

Patient Ratios: 9 Step Down Beds=3 or 4:1, 43 MedSurg Beds= 5 or 6:1

Floating: Occasionally to other MS/SD units

Scheduling:
Weekend Rotation: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period
Holiday Expectations: Rotating Holidays
RTO: Approve up to 7 days RTO
Shift Times: 7a-7p and 7p-7a with Mandatory shift Huddles at 645 and 1845
Schedule Cycle: 4 week schedule posted 4 weeks in advance of 1 schedule day

Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Parking: Dayshift-P12 with shuttle to campus, Nightshift- P1 attached to hospital
