🏥 Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse to join a dynamic float pool team. This role offers the opportunity to work across multiple units including PCU, MS/Tele, Neuro Stepdown, and Intermediate Care, providing high-quality care to adult patients with complex medical conditions.

- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Unit Type: PCU / Stepdown / MS-Tele / Neuro Stepdown
- Float: Yes – Float pool position across ~5 units and metro facilities
- Charting System: Epic
- Weekend Requirement: 8 shifts per 6-week schedule (Fri/Sat/Sun combination)
- Orientation: 16 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
🩺 Patient Population
Care for a wide variety of diagnoses including:
- Heart failure, myocardial infarction (MI)
- Stroke, seizures, traumatic brain injury
- COPD, pulmonary embolism
- Renal failure, hemodialysis patients
- Sepsis, bacteremia, cellulitis
- Alcohol withdrawal and more
✅ Requirements
- Experience: 1–2 years PCU/Stepdown or relevant acute care experience
- License: Active Missouri RN License or Compact License
- Certifications:
- BLS (Required)
- NIHSS (Required)
- ACLS (Preferred)
- Travel Experience: Not required
💡 Preferred Qualifications
- Charge nurse experience
- Experience in Trauma Level I or II facilities
- Teaching hospital experience
🛠️ Core Skills & Competencies
- Cardiac monitoring & dysrhythmia interpretation
- Management of cardiac drips (non-titrating)
- Rapid response & code team collaboration
- IV therapy, central lines, PICC lines, and phlebotomy
- Respiratory support: BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, trach care, ABGs
- Hemodialysis pre/post care & renal management
- Feeding tubes, wound care, and surgical drains
- IV insulin protocols and heparin protocols
🧑⚕️ Work Environment
- Supported by Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Radiology, Rapid Response Teams, and Phlebotomy
- Work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Utilize Epic with secure chat communication
📅 Additional Details
- Floating Required: Yes (within system and metro campuses)
- Block Scheduling: Not available
- Time Off: Up to 2 pre-approved requests (max 7 days)
- Local Radius Rule: Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius
