Description
Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (Night Shift)
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekend shifts or 4 weekend days every 6 weeks
- Holidays: As needed
- No on-call required
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience required
- First-time travel nurses are welcome
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for all ER RNs)
- Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia Exam (must pass with minimum 82%)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – preferred
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – preferred
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – preferred
- EPIC electronic health record system proficiency required
Required Licenses and Verifications
- Valid North Carolina RN license with primary source verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (required for badge issuance)
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including aliases, national criminal, sex offender, federal court, and education verification
- Foreign equivalency evaluation if nursing education was obtained outside the U.S. (must be submitted within 30 days after start)
Compliance and Onboarding Requirements
- Completion of mandatory questionnaire prior to offer
- Flexible scheduling with strict zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Compliance documents must be completed by 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to start date
- Facility-specific photo for badge (business casual or uniform, forward-facing, solid color background, no selfies or altered photos)
- Completion of Health History Form including any physician-mandated work restrictions
- Completion of Workday login and onboarding tasks before arrival
- Review and sign floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgement forms
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam (if applicable) within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test (annual, approved N95 respirators required)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult vaccine)
- TB test (Qgold/TSPOT within 6 months) or chest X-ray if positive history
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Hepatitis B – titer or declination with booster series if non-reactive
- Varicella – positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (9/22/2025 – 2/27/2026)
Experience and References
- Minimum 2 years of ED nursing experience required
- Prior travel experience not required (first-time travelers accepted)
- Two supervisory references required for clinical positions:
- One reference from an assignment within 12 months prior to start
- One reference from an assignment within 24 months prior to start
- Hospital/facility performance evaluations within 12 months are acceptable
Additional Requirements
- Employment application/resume with 7 years of work history
- Verification of all employment within the last 5 years through a third-party vendor
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% passing score)
- Color vision test (online) required unless non-clinical
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing policies for EPIC and EKG exams
Preferred Experience
- Previous Charge RN experience
- Level 2 Trauma experience
Schedule and Workload Expectations
- 36 hours per week
- Night shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 3 shifts per week (12-hour shifts)
- Weekend and holiday coverage as needed
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Pass/fail EKG/Dysrhythmia exam (minimum 82% passing score)
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
