Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Location: Rutherfordton, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Facility & Unit Overview

• 24-bed Emergency Department with three care areas:

  • Main area (12 beds) with a 4:1 patient ratio
  • Fast Track (5 rooms) with a 5:1 patient ratio
  • Extension area (6 beds) with a 6:1 patient ratio, supported by Medic and Charge nurse
• Primary Stroke Center and Chest Pain Accredited
• Patient population includes all ages
• Electronic Health Record system: Meditech
• Shift: 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
• Weekend hours: Every other weekend
• No call requirements

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications required prior to start:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)

Job Responsibilities & Expectations

• Provide care for common emergency diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, CVA, and Pneumonia
• Work collaboratively as a well-rounded team player in a professional environment
• Adhere to dress code: scrubs of any color allowed; no derogatory expressions on attire

• No float requirements
• No call responsibilities
• Located in a town with access to local shops, restaurants, and nearby natural attractions such as Chimney Rock State Park

Note: Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as Travel.
