Nuclear Medicine Technologist (Contract)
Job Details
- Employment Type: Contractor
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 8-hour day shift
- Hours per Week: 40
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Nuclear Medicine experience
- Open to first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)
Patient Population
- Inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department patients
- Procedures include cardiac, gastrointestinal (GI), pulmonary, oncology, PET scans, and DAT scans
Workload and Staffing
- Daily patient volume ranges from 7 to 18 patients for cardiac and general Nuclear Medicine work
- PET scans supported with 5 patient slots per day, staffed by 1 tech per day
- PET workflow operates independently from general Nuclear Medicine
Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) certification
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of basic Nuclear Medicine principles and practices
- Experience with GE imaging equipment (any models) and SPECT CT
- Ability to start IVs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Orientation and Training
- 12 hours of orientation to learn workflow
Equipment and Systems
- Preferred familiarity with:
- EPIC electronic health record system
- GE 850 imaging equipment
- McKesson PACS
- Nuc Trak system
Support and Team
- Department supervisor available
- Other Nuclear Medicine technologists on staff
Floating and Additional Duties
- During the second half of the contract, participate in rotation for PET scans at a nearby Cancer Center (approximately 1 mile away)
Scheduling and On-Call
- Weekend rotation is call only
- Weekday on-call schedule: 1 call shift per week, end of shift until 6:00 AM the following morning
- Weekend on-call schedule: 1 weekend every 4th weekend, from end of shift Friday until 6:00 AM Monday
- Holiday call: Potential to take call for 1 holiday during the contract
- Time off requests require manager approval
