Description
Unit: Preceptor ED
Experience Required: 2 years experience; no first time travelers
Certs Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, CPI, PALS, Active OK/Comp License. BSN Required.
Skills Required:
Typical: Level I traume experience, IV insertions and central line management, med administration with titratables gtts, comfortable with EPIC code narrators (must have at least 6 months experience), MTP protocol, Vent and oxygen management, chest tube management.
Soft Skills: positive attitude; NO "old eat their young" mentality; leadership is big on taking care of the staff, being nice to EVERYONE (including ancillary staff)
Patient Types: Typical: Stroke, Trauma patients including MVA, falls, GSW, spinal cord injuries, work/farm accidents, liver/spleen lacs, MI work ups (cath lab present in-house), respiratory failure, psych populations, DKA, medical workup, sepsis, a lot of renal failure and oncology populations
Patient Ratios: 4:1; flex to 5 patients if needed (only has happened twice since January)
EMR: EPIC
Technology:
EMR: Epic - at least 6 months recent experience; comfortable with all types of code narrators
IV Pump: Plum 360
Med dispensing: Pyxis
Monitors: Phyllips
Unit specific equiptment: blemont, level I rapid infuser, ekg machines, epoc, istat, sonosite
Scheduling:
Weekend Rotation: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period
Holiday Expectations: 1 major and 1 minor summer and winter holiday
RTO: Approve up to 7 days RTO
Other Notes:
Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Parking: Dayshift-P12 with shuttle to campus, Nightshift- P1 attached to hospital
