  • Unit Type: Med/Surg with Telemetry
  • Beds: 34
  • Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Typical: 1:6
    • Max: 1:7 (only if needed)
  • Floating: Required (within Med/Surg units)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (6–7 shifts per contract)
  • On-Call: Yes (PRN low census)

 

🩺 Patient Diagnoses

You’ll care for a variety of adult Med/Surg patients, including:

  • Diabetes (DM)
  • Renal disease / Renal failure
  • Hypertension (HTN)
  • Coronary artery disease (CAD)
  • Stroke / CVA
  • Chest pain
  • Altered mental status (AMS)
    ➡️ All patients eligible for telemetry monitoring

 

🔍 Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality care in a Med/Surg & Telemetry setting
  • Monitor patients and respond to cardiac events & rapid response calls
  • Administer medications including insulin, heparin, PCA
  • Perform IV therapy, central line care, and blood product administration
  • Provide wound care and infection prevention
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes

 

🧰 Skills & Experience

Required:

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
  • Med/Surg + Telemetry experience
  • Epic charting experience
  • Strong skills in patient assessment, IV therapy, and emergency response

Preferred:

  • Charge nurse experience
  • Experience with central lines, PICC lines, wound vacs, chest tubes
  • Familiarity with telemetry monitoring & dysrhythmia management

 

📜 Certifications & Licensure

  • Active SC RN License or Compact License (Required)
  • BLS (AHA) – Required
  • ACLS & NIHSS – Preferred
