🏥 Unit Details
- Unit Type: Med/Surg with Telemetry
- Beds: 34
- Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
- Patient Ratios:
- Typical: 1:6
- Max: 1:7 (only if needed)
- Floating: Required (within Med/Surg units)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (6–7 shifts per contract)
- On-Call: Yes (PRN low census)
🩺 Patient Diagnoses
You’ll care for a variety of adult Med/Surg patients, including:
- Diabetes (DM)
- Renal disease / Renal failure
- Hypertension (HTN)
- Coronary artery disease (CAD)
- Stroke / CVA
- Chest pain
- Altered mental status (AMS)
➡️ All patients eligible for telemetry monitoring
🔍 Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality care in a Med/Surg & Telemetry setting
- Monitor patients and respond to cardiac events & rapid response calls
- Administer medications including insulin, heparin, PCA
- Perform IV therapy, central line care, and blood product administration
- Provide wound care and infection prevention
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes
🧰 Skills & Experience
Required:
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Med/Surg + Telemetry experience
- Epic charting experience
- Strong skills in patient assessment, IV therapy, and emergency response
Preferred:
- Charge nurse experience
- Experience with central lines, PICC lines, wound vacs, chest tubes
- Familiarity with telemetry monitoring & dysrhythmia management
📜 Certifications & Licensure
- Active SC RN License or Compact License (Required)
- BLS (AHA) – Required
- ACLS & NIHSS – Preferred
