Med/Surg Tele RN

Important Submission Requirements
✅ Candidate must live outside the 50-mile radius
✅ Unexpired Driver's License required with submission

Unit Overview

• Beds: 30
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6–7
• Candidates must be comfortable taking up to 7 patients
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Required Certifications

✅ BLS
✅ NIHSS

Required Experience

• Med/Surg experience
• Telemetry experience
• Heparin drip management
• Comfortable with higher patient ratios

Common Patient Population

• CHF
• COPD
• Cellulitis
• Rule Out (R/O) diagnoses
• Cholecystectomy patients
• Appendectomy patients
• Pneumonia
• Urosepsis
• Acute Kidney Injury (AKI)

Telemetry

• Telemetry monitored remotely by monitor technicians
• RN should be comfortable caring for tele patients

Drips

• Heparin titration based on aPTT results

Support Staff

• Charge Nurse available (takes an assignment)
• PCTs available on the unit

Respiratory Equipment

• Intermittent BiPAP
• No ventilator patients on the unit

Schedule

• Scheduled as needed
• Typically works about half of the weekends
• No call or standby requirement

Floating

• Floating required based on census needs
• External travelers are first to float

Ideal Candidate

Looking for a Med/Surg Tele RN with experience managing CHF, COPD, sepsis, and renal patients, who is comfortable with telemetry monitoring, heparin titration, and patient ratios up to 1:7. Flexibility to float and work scheduled weekends is required.
