Cardiac OR Surgical Technologist

📍 Location: Rochester, NY
📅 Contract Length: 13 Weeks
⏱ Schedule: 36 or 48 Hours per Week

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Cardiac OR Surgical Technologist to join a high-acuity Adult Cardiac Operating Room. The ideal candidate will have recent cardiac surgery experience and be skilled in supporting complex cardiovascular procedures while maintaining the highest standards of sterile technique, patient safety, and surgical excellence.

Types of Procedures

• Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG)
• Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement/Implantation (TAVR/TAVI)
• Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Implantation
• ECMO Cannulation and Related Procedures
• Artificial Heart Procedures
• Heart Transplant Surgeries
• Other Advanced Adult Cardiac Surgical Procedures

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile instruments, equipment, and surgical supplies.
• Scrub and assist surgeons during complex cardiac procedures.
• Perform surgical counts and maintain strict sterile technique throughout each case.
• Ensure safe handling of instruments, medications, sharps, and solutions in accordance with hospital policies.
• Assist with operating room setup, turnover, and preparation for subsequent procedures.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, nurses, and other members of the cardiac surgical team.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Operating Room experience.
• Ability to scrub in cardiac surgical procedures.
• New York Surgical Technologist License required (if applicable per state regulations).
• NBSTSA Certification required or a minimum of 10 years of Surgical Technologist experience.
• Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association only).

Preferred Qualifications

• Operating Room experience in a Level I Trauma Center.
• Recent EPIC EMR experience within the specialty area.

Additional Information

• Candidates must be comfortable working rotating Day/Evening/Night shifts.
• Weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities are required based on unit needs.
• Must meet all facility onboarding requirements, including TB screening/testing if requested.
