Surgical Technologist (CST) – Operating Room

Location: Bridgeport, CT
Schedule: 36 hours/week | 3×12 Midshifts (11:00 AM – 11:30 PM)
Call Requirement: Up to 6 weekend calls and 6 weeknight calls per 6‑week scheduling period
Unit Size: 16 Operating Rooms
Patient Ratio: 1:1

Position Summary

The Surgical Technologist will function as a vital member of the operating room team, providing direct support to surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures. This role requires strong technical expertise across multiple surgical specialties, including complex orthopedic, neuro, vascular, and robotic cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms by setting up instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies
• Maintain sterile technique and anticipate the needs of the surgical team throughout procedures
• Scrub and assist in orthopedic total joint, neuro spine and craniotomy, vascular, and robotic surgeries
• Assist with patient positioning, draping, and intraoperative care
• Ensure proper handling, labeling, and counting of instruments and surgical materials
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia, and nursing staff to ensure patient safety
• Participate in on-call coverage as required

Required Qualifications

• Certification:

  Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS‑C) through NCCT (either accepted)

• Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of operating room experience preferred
  • Demonstrated competency in ortho total joints, neuro, vascular, and robotic procedures
• Trauma Experience:
  • Level 2 Trauma Operating Room experience required
