Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical (Surgical Unit)
Location: Urbana, IL
Shift: Days | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Duration: 13 Weeks

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for a Medical Surgical Unit travel assignment in Urbana, Illinois. The ideal candidate will have strong post-operative nursing experience and be comfortable caring for patients with complex surgical needs in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to post-operative surgical patients.
- Perform patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
- Monitor and manage patients with tracheostomies, wound vacs, drains, and ostomies.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments in accordance with physician orders.
- Assess patient responses to treatment and communicate changes in condition promptly.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, discharge instructions, and post-operative care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation utilizing Epic EMR.
- Adhere to hospital policies, patient safety standards, and evidence-based nursing practices.
Requirements
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) License at time of submission.
- Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Minimum one (1) year of recent Medical Surgical nursing experience.
- Previous Trauma Level I facility experience required.
- Epic EMR experience required.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
