Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech

Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Day shift, 5x8 hours)
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Patient Ratio: 1:5
Unit: Busy full-service Nuclear Medicine Department in a large hospital setting


Job Description

  • Perform duties as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in a high-volume, full-service Nuclear Medicine Department.
  • No on-call required.
  • Floating is not applicable.
  • No weekend requirement, but optional weekend shifts available.
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated.
  • Local candidates within 100-mile radius are not accepted.

Required Qualifications

  • Nuclear Medicine Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Registered Technologist in Nuclear Medicine Technology (ARRT).

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Two forms of government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s license, social security card, passport).
  • Background checks within 60 days of start, including statewide, county, federal, and education verification.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and annually thereafter.
  • Education verification required (diploma/transcript not accepted as substitute).
  • Separate sex offender search required.
  • Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry search required (TN facilities only).
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
  • Fit test for 3M N-95 masks within 1 year of start (must pass without limitations).
  • Immunization requirements:
    • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination.
    • TB test (2-step PPD, Q-Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year; if positive, chest X-ray required.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30).
  • Photo for badge with strict guidelines (passport-style, no glasses, no head coverings except religious, no piercings visible).

Additional Requirements

  • Two recent professional references.
  • Skills checklist and internal evaluation required if employed with agency for one year or more.
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests must be current (within 1 year).
  • Facility-specific dress code:
    • Navy blue scrubs for RNs, Caribbean blue for RRTs, steel gray for Surgical and OB Techs.
    • No prints or embroidered scrubs allowed.
    • CT Techs: Ceil blue top and pants with optional white lab coat or matching scrub jacket.
    • Business casual with lab coat for RN Case Managers.
  • Confidentiality acknowledgment must be signed prior to start.

Notes

  • Guaranteed 40 hours per week.
  • One holiday off allowed.
  • This is a fast-paced, busy unit requiring strong technical skills and adaptability.
